The Reasons I Want To Work From Home In A Self Employed Position – The Pros And Cons

Self employed Careers are fairly common in our time, many individuals decide to start their own businesses and pass them on through the generations. On the opposite hand, a category of Careers that even now isn’t very common is those working from home. People and businesses can put across two entirely opposite opinions as to why you should or shouldn’t work from home, both sides have some extremely good and compelling points to put forward. As for myself, I have looked at Career ideas for working from home and have decided to try my luck at a self employed, home working position. I have a few reasons for selecting this, but still have some views as to why it isn’t always a good idea. Here are some of my opninons.

The first thing that brought me to both self employed Careers and working from home, is the hours you can work. No doubt your income is very much effected by the level of work you dedicate, but I mostly liked the idea of being able to laze in bed in a morning or choose my days off. It also means that when I’m in a lazy mood, I can split the day up, perhaps doing a couple hours in the morning, go for a break and then finish the work in the evening. The freedom was the biggest thing I was looking for and as a huge extra for me, once efficient at the work, unlike a regular job, if you do the work without delay, you’d be done for the day, no sitting around in an office picking up someone else’s work. If I become good at the work, I could shorten my 8 hour day into perhaps 5 or 6 hours, I have never been in agreement of an 8 hour working day as I think it is too exhausting and leaves you with only a few hours of free time, so this is a big thumbs up from me.

No doubt working from home isn’t devoid of its downsides and for anyone thinking about these Career ideas I would recommend that they seriously consider the following. When beginning these New careers, ask yourself, do you have the self-control to do the work unsupervised? To be completely honest, I struggle greatly with this, as there are distractions everywhere in the home. Subconsciously I understand that I’m not being made to do work, it’s not like a standard job where you have to hang around there 8 solid hours and can only depart after that time, I have the freedom to do whatever I want. It is too easy just to click on my web browser and waste an hour on the internet, by which time I am not in the mood to work and the day ends up a waste of time. That equals money lost and is the largest killer of home employment. If you wish to try these Careers, you require a strong will and if at all possible a quiet area where you can cut yourself off from any disturbances.

There are many other reasons why I decided on working from home, such as the pleasant, comfortable and quiet workspace and having the opportunity to prepare a proper lunch, but there is too much to specify here and it’s more fitting that you think about your own ups and downs before taking on these New careers.
